Terms
Short, because they need to be read rather than agreed to unread.
The work
What is included is agreed in writing before anything starts, usually by email. Anything outside that gets quoted separately before it is done — you will never receive an invoice for work you did not agree to.
Paying
Half before the build starts, half when the site goes live. Hosting and upkeep is monthly in advance and can be stopped whenever you like.
Timescales
Three weeks is normal, and most delays come from waiting on photos or text. I will tell you what I need and when.
What you own
Once the final invoice is paid: the domain, the content, the images you supplied, and the site itself. You can move it anywhere, and I will help with the handover rather than obstruct it.
Any software I have written and reuse across sites stays mine, but your licence to keep using it on your site is permanent and does not depend on you staying with me.
What you are responsible for
That the photos and text you give me are yours to use, and that any claims about qualifications or accreditations are accurate and current.
Stopping
Either of us can stop the monthly service at any time with no notice period. If you cancel mid-build, you pay for the work done so far and take what exists.
Things I cannot promise
Search rankings, a number of enquiries, or a level of revenue. Nobody can promise those honestly. What I guarantee is the work described, done properly.
Governing law
The law of England and Wales.
