Location card generator
A block for your contact page with your name, where you are, and a button that opens directions in whatever map app the visitor already has. It loads nothing from anywhere else, so it sets no cookies and adds no weight to your page.
How it will look
Your code
Paste this wherever your site takes custom HTML: a Custom HTML block in WordPress, an Embed block in Squarespace, an HTML element in Wix or GoDaddy. Your contact page is the usual home for it, and any page about an area you cover is a good second.
Why not just embed a Google map
An embedded map is a whole second website loaded inside your page. It pulls in a large amount of code before anybody has asked to see a map, which is one of the things our own check marks you down for, and it can set cookies, which means a consent banner for the sake of a picture of a road.
Almost everyone who looks at a map on a business page is deciding whether you are near enough, then pressing directions. This card answers both, loads nothing, and hands the visitor to the map app they already use, already signed in, with their location already known.
One thing to check afterwards
This card is for people reading the page. Search engines read your business details from your markup, which is a separate job. Our schema generator writes that for you. Add one lot of business markup to a site, never two: two sets that disagree are worse than none.
Whatever address you use, write it exactly as it appears on your Google listing. A different version in each place is one of the things that keeps businesses out of the map results.
Check the rest of the page while you are there
A contact page with directions on it is still worth nothing if the page is slow, the number cannot be tapped, or search engines cannot read who you are.
