Google Business Profile setup
The free listing that decides whether you appear in the map results. Most trades have one and almost nobody fills it in.
When someone searches for a plumber near them, the three businesses in the map box get most of the clicks. That box is not powered by your website. It is powered by your Google Business Profile, which is free and takes an afternoon to do properly.
This is the cheapest visibility there is, and it is the first thing I check on any audit.

What a finished profile looks like
Claimed is not the same as finished. These are the parts that are almost always left empty.
What I do
- Claim or recover the listing, including profiles someone else set up years ago
- Categories, services and service area set properly
- Description written for people, not stuffed with keywords
- Photos uploaded and named correctly
- Opening hours including out-of-hours availability
- A simple routine for asking for reviews on every finished job
Two situations
It depends what you are starting from.
No listing yet
Straightforward. Claimed, verified, filled in — usually visible within a fortnight.
A listing you cannot get into
More common than you would think. Set up by a former employee, an old marketing company, or Google itself. Recoverable, just fiddly.
Three weeks, start to finish
- Week one Work out what you actually need A phone call, your job photos, your service areas. I write the copy and send you the structure before anything gets built.
- Week two Build it The site goes together on a preview link you can look at on your phone. Click-to-call everywhere, your reviews on the front page, loads in under two seconds.
- Week three Put it live and make it findable Domain pointed, Google Business Profile sorted, local listings consistent, and a walkthrough so you can change your own prices without ringing me.

Questions people actually ask
Is this not free?
The listing is free, yes. You are paying me for the afternoon it takes to do it properly and the knowledge of which fields actually matter. If you would rather do it yourself, ask and I will tell you what to fill in.
How long before it shows up?
Verification takes a few days to a couple of weeks. Movement in the map results takes longer and depends on your area and competition. Nobody can promise you a position.
Do I need a website for this to work?
No, and this is often the better place to start if you have neither. A finished profile with reviews beats a website nobody finds.
Want to know where you stand?
Send me your website address, or your business name if you have not got one. I will look at it properly and tell you what I find — no charge and no pitch deck afterwards.
