Did we email you out of the blue?

Then this is the section you want, so it is first.

We compile publicly listed business contact details (business name, trade, address, phone number and website) from online map listings such as Google and Bing, and from businesses' own websites. If your email address is published on your own site, that is where I found it.

We then look at the website itself and record technical facts about it: whether it loads securely, whether it works on a phone, how it is structured. Nothing is taken from anywhere private, nothing is bought from a list broker, and no personal accounts are accessed.

We contact businesses on the basis of legitimate interest in offering a service relevant to that business. If you would rather we did not, say so once, by reply, by phone, or using the unsubscribe link in any email, and we will delete your details rather than simply suppress them.

If you contact us

We keep what you send: your name, contact details and whatever you tell us about the business. It is used to reply to you and, if you become a client, to do the work and invoice for it.

How long it is kept

• Prospect details: deleted automatically after 2 years of no contact, or immediately on request.
• Enquiries that did not become work: two years.
• Client records and invoices: six years, because HMRC requires it.

Who else sees it

Nobody it is sold to, because it is never sold. It passes through the companies that host this website, send our email and take card payments, each acting on our instructions only.

Your rights

You can ask to see what we hold about you, have it corrected, have it deleted, or object to us holding it at all. Ask and it is done. There is no form and no argument. Requests are handled through the standard tools, so what comes back is everything on file rather than whatever we remember to look for. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If you log in to the admin area, WordPress sets a session cookie to keep you logged in. That is all.
